Fifth Grade had a fun first day back at the Learning Cafe! Our fifth grade customers enjoyed "coffee" (hot chocolate) and treats as well as fun coffee-themed centers to review skills from the first half of the school year. Some of the activities included: "Edit the Menu" to find and fix grammar and spelling errors, "Espresso Yourself" to practice creative writing skills, "Read-a-Latte" non-fiction passages and questions, "Coffee and Donut Matching" to review figurative language, "Crack the Cashbox" to practice word problems with decimals, multiplication, and "Order Up!" to practice addition and subtraction of money. Students also invented their own drinks and made posters to try to sell our new ideas to Starbucks! Finally, they ended the day with a special gift from Mrs. Lopez. |
