In Kindergarten, students build on the skills learned in both preschool and TK and begin to take ownership of their learning. With a personalized approach, students are able and encouraged to progress at their own pace while still being challenged.

rEADING & pHONICS

In reading and phonics, a great emphasis is put on the science of reading so that young learners truly begin to understand why words work the way they do, making them stronger readers. Reading groups are taught in small, flexible, ability-based groupings through a multi-sensory curriculum that focuses on a variety of literary experiences.

MATH

Math brings numbers to life, continuing to hone number sense skills and exploring concepts such as time, money, graphing, patterning, geometry, and measurement. These skills are fostered through direct, hands-on instruction and the use of manipulatives.

wRITING

In writing, students continue to focus on proper letter formation and proper sentence structure through the use of a daily journal. Additionally, they begin to enhance their craft as early writers and become independent authors of varying pieces, including a group research report in the spring.
