All new incoming students are evaluated for admission based on the following criteria:
1. Academics
Students must have a passing grade in core subjects the semester prior to enrollment at WVCS. Students not meeting this criteria may be admitted on a conditional acceptance.
2. Behavior
Students are expected to have maintained satisfactory marks in citizenship and work habits throughout their education prior to applying to WVCS. Students earning more than two unsatisfactory marks (e.g. “N’s”, “U’s” or “1 or 2’s”) in citizenship (behavior) and/or work habits on their report card the semester prior to enrolling at WVCS may be disqualified from enrollment.
3. Testing
The student should pass the admissions test by scoring 50% or better in three out of the four areas tested on the Test of Academic Performance (TAP) for 1st-8th grade and other forms of assessment. A developmental readiness test is administered to students entering Kindergarten. In addition, results of standardized testing, such as the SAT10, must be submitted for the 1st-8th grade students.
4. Kindergarten
Students entering Kindergarten must be five by September 1st. We also require the following for students entering Kindergarten:
- Recommendation by their preschool teachers (a teacher recommendation form will be in the Kindergarten registration packet).
- Kindergarten Assessment Screening that will be administered by our school counselor.
5. Spirituality
At WVCS, we appreciate families who support our goal to introduce and develop spiritual growth in their children. It is not required for families to attend or be members of a church, however, our hope is that you will support our efforts teaching your students with the National Christian School Publisher that directs us with age appropriate truths to live by.
